Extension of a villa on a side of the Val di Cecina, surrounded by green fields and overlooking the sea.
THE VILLA
The project comes to life from a villa developed on two floors, surrounded by a confused and undesigned garden. In particular, the large lateral swimming pool was a critical point to be enhanced, to which more breathing should be dedicated.
The interiors did not stand out for particular architectural details, as the structure was relatively recently built. The exceptions are the vaulted ceilings on the ground floor and the roof with wooden beams which we instead wanted to give light to.

THE PROJECT
The project starts from the desire to transform an anonymous farmhouse into a villa, tailored to the needs of a holiday home. The access to the house has been renewed with the inclusion of a singular travertine staircase that connects the arrival point on the private road with the garden level.
For the exterior project, a geometric garden was designed, with alternating decorative plants, green areas and pedestrian paths.
The new swimming pool completes the area with a large solarium paved in terracotta strips. The same material, combined in tiles of different sizes, gives life to paved sidewalks and terraces around the house.
THE EXTENSION AND INTERIOR PROJECT
The existing volumes were expanded at the back, gaining 50 square meters and allowing for better organization of the spaces, for which, the panoramic view from the hill, was the main element around which the living area was developed.
For a dialogue between inside and outside, large windows and thin iron frames were chosen.
The interiors have now a new look, acquiring freshness and personality.
The living area occupies the entire ground floor without interruptions, distributing the kitchen, dining room and living room in a single connected space.
The gaze always towards the outside is highlighted by the pale tones of the walls and the whitened ceilings.
THE CHOICE OF MATERIALS
The leading element of the project is the resin floor, in different shades for the two floors, which is transformed into color for the walls of the 3 bathrooms.
The ceilings for both floors are whitened, expanding the natural light that enters from the large openings in the facade.
